On 19 July Zaporizhia oblast office of All-Ukrainian Union Svoboda held a rally near Zaporizhia city council against prohibition for holding mass events, what rather often happened lately.
According to Vitalii Podlobnikov, the Head of Zaporizhia office of All-Ukrainian Union Svoboda, all authorities headed by the Mayor Oleksandr Sin do everything possible to prevent holding meetings aimed at defending the rights and freedoms of citizens
"They try to prevent holding all actions against anti-Ukrainian language law, no matter who has submitted a notification - all-Ukrainian Union Svoboda or any other civic organization. They used all possible methods: counter-notifications from political opponents, urgent creation of an "archival day" in the Local Council's office, sudden disappearance of all employees of internal policies and office. Authorities are playing hide-and-seek with us. So-called "archival day" appeared after O. Sin became the Mayor as the "great democrat", and his disgraceful escape to the Party of Regions." - V. Podlobnikova cited the site of Zaporizhia office of Svoboda.
Forty people on meeting demanded to see the Mayor, but the Deputy head of Internal policy department of Zaporizhia City council came out instead of him. Ms. Vasylieva tried to explain why most actions are prohibited. She noted, that the local council has submitted a court appeal against conduction of meetings by All-Ukrainian Union Svoboda and other patriotic civic organizations in order to protect participants of the meetings.
