On October 4, Ukrainian Parliament has voted on the appointment of a new Central Election Commission. Each of 17 candidates, submitted by the President, was supported with more than 251 votes.

Thus, new membership of the Central Election Commission comprises 17 persons. 12 of them are nominees from the Servant of the People faction, 2 - nominees from the Opposition Platform - For Life, and one nominee from each Batkivshchyna, European Solidarity and Holos. The Parliament voted on each candidate separately.

The following individuals have became new members of the CEC:

  • Oksana Boiarchuk (355 votes for the candidate, 0 against and 4 abstained)
  • Yurii Buhlak (345 for, 2 against, 17 abstained)
  • Olena Hataullina (360 for, 0 against, 0 abstained)
  • Andrii Hevko (353 for, 2 against, 5 abstained)
  • Victoriia Hlushchenko (359 for, 0 against, 0 abstained)
  • Vitalii Hren (361 for, 0 against, 1 abstained)
  • Oleh Didenko (367 for, 0 against, 0 abstained)
  • Serhii Dubovyk (334 for, 15 against, 5 abstained)
  • Andrii Yevstihnieiev (370 for, 0 against, 0 abstained)
  • Iryna Yefremova (373 for, 0 against, 0 abstained)
  • Oleksandra Karmaza (375 for, 0 against, 0 abstained)
  • Pavlo Liubchenko (370 for, 0 against, 0 abstained)
  • Yurii Miroshnychenko (310 for, 27 against, 20 abstained)
  • Volodymyr Perepeliuk (366 for, 1 against, 0 abstained)
  • Vitalii Plukar (368 for, 0 against, 0 abstained)
  • Serhii Postivyi (370 for, 0 against, 0 abstained)
  • Yurii Frytskyi (371 for, 0 against, 0 abstained)

 

It should be mentioned that four of them were members of the previous CEC. These members are: Oleh Didenko, Andrii Yevstihnieiev, Vitalii Plukar and Iryna Yefremova.

Before the voting took place, the President's submission was presented and discussed. President's VRU representative Ruslan Stefanchuk presented the submission from the rostrum. Deputy Chairwoman Alina Zahoruiko spoke on behalf of the Committee on Organization of State Government, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning. She said that the proposed 17 persons meet the requirements of current legislation.

Factions and individual MPs took the floor afterwards.

Ivan Krulko (Batkivshchyna) emphasized that it is necessary to appoint such CEC members, which will not need to be dissolved before the end of term in the future. He said the faction would vote for the appointment.

Roman Lozynskyi (Holos) noted that their faction voted against the dissolution. He stressed that CEC members are being appointed for 7 years for a reason. He also said that he hopes this CEC would be impartial, and the next one would not be appointed based on faction quotas. He said the faction would support the appointment.

Oleksandr Kachura (Servant of the People) urged members of the CEC not follow the steps of the previous one and to work in line with the Constitution of Ukraine and the laws.

Iryna Herashchenko (European Solidarity) thanked the previous CEC for two perfectly organized election campaigns.

Oleksii Honcharenko (European Solidarity) criticized the speedy consideration of this matter, because the Committee considered it yesterday and today the Parliament votes on it. He noted that Ukrainian society did not have time to learn about candidates.

Mariia Ionova (European Solidarity) hopes that the new composition of the CEC will continue improvements the previous one started.

Each new member of the CEC took an oath at the parliamentary rostrum after the vote. Only Yurii Buhlak could not take the oath because he had a business trip abroad at the time.
