Tomorrow, on July, 1st is the first day of the admission campaign to Ukrainian universities.
We remind that in 2011 the admission to the universities will be based on the contest that includes the total score of the testing, the school certificate and the extra points. There are some creative contests in several universities for admission on some specializations (“journalism”, “theatre”, “architecture”, “design”, “actory training”). There are also some universities with the interviews on the readiness to study in the university.
We remind all the graduates and their parents that the graduate can file the application and the documents to not more than five universities in Ukraine and not more than three specializations in each of them. The graduates have a right to file the UCEQE certificate issued in 2011 or the certificates issued in 2008-2010. The total score can’t be lower than 124 points for the contest subjects.
The admission of the applications and documents by the admission boards will last from July, 1st to July, 31st. If the graduates, according to the admission rules, have to pass the creative contests, then the deadline of the admission is July, 17th. The creative contests will be held in several sessions from July, 10 to 31. The graduates who have to pass the entrance exams in the universities should file the application and documents till July, 22.
The entrance exams will be conducted between July, 23 and July, 31. The rating lists of the graduates that are recommended for admission are to be published by August, 1.
The civil network “OPORA” reminds that the enrollment of the graduates will be based not on the priority of the documents’ filing but on the contest that lasts for a month.
Looking back to the experience of admission campaign monitoring, we recommend the graduates do not hurry to file the documents and give the preference to the most desired specialties and not to waste all the possible allotment (5 universities, 3 specialties in each).
When the end of the document filing is near, the graduates may need to file the papers on the specialties with small contest – and if the graduate files the documents to all 15 contests, he will lose such chance. So it is necessary to keep an eye on the rating on the information boards of the admission boards or through the “Contest” system in the internet – and correct the order of documents’ filing.
The innovation of the 2011 admission campaign is the possibility of graduates’ electronic registration. But, hence the “Electronic Admission” system is experimental this year, OPORA recommends to use it but also file the documents personally to the admission boards in case of troubles.

Extra points: awardees of the IV level of the All-Ukrainian school contests and the awardees of the III level of the All-Ukrainian contests conducted by the Minor academy of Sciences of Ukraine are added extra points: for the diplomas of the I level – 50 pts, for the II level – 40 pts., for the III level – 30 pts – if they file the documents to the specialty where the subject they got the diploma in is the profile subject. The graduates who graduated from the preparatory courses (the faculties of pre-college preparation) of the university to study on natural-mathematics or technical-engineering specialties get extra 20 pts.
Some universities accept the certificates with less than 124 for the non-core subjects if they have not less than 170 for the core subject.
