The choice, made by the Ukrainian people on October 28, will determine the situation inUkraineat least for the next few years. Oleh Levchenko, the Regional Coordinator of long-term election observation, dwells on the peculiarities of this year Parliamentary elections in Vinnytsia region, which does not run to political extremes of eastern or western Ukraine.

All the competing candidates in the constituencies of Vinnytsia region can be conditionally divided into three groups: representatives of the governing party, opposition candidates, and so called “dark horses”. The latter present themselves as independent candidates (“smovysuvantsi”), representatives of the local nongovernmental organization (which were specially created before the elections) or charity funds, and yet do not demonstrate their political affiliations.
