What kind of punishment is imposed for voting rights violations? Who might get into a jail and for what? OPORA has prepared a 30-minute video to give you a chance take conscious decision.

On 15 November 2015, the second round of mayoral election is to be held in cities having over 90 thousand voters, where none of the candidates took 50% +1 vote in the first round on 25 October.

As of 3 November, OPORA has already detected 1332 violations during the local election campaign. It should be mentioned that the following violations were the most widespread: violation of campaigning rules, voter bribery, manipulations with voters lists, obstruction to activities of official observers and journalists, violations at election commissions and falsification of the election results.

 Punishments for voting rights violations:

- Interference in activities of election commission by state officials – up to 10 years of deprivation of liberty;

- Obstruction to activities of official observers and journalists – up to 3 years of restriction or deprivation of liberty;

- Issuance of ballot papers without passport verification – fine up to 5,100 UAH or restriction of liberty for up to 3 years;

- Taking pictures of ballot papers – fine up to 5,100 UAH;

- Falsification of electoral documents – up to 7 years of deprivation of liberty.

OPORA calls on citizens to make a conscious decision and not to accept questionable offers.
