How not become confused about an election ballot? What you better know before the voting? 28 seconds of OPORA's social video will help you to make a conscious choice.
According to OPORA's research, based on results of focus-group discussions with the voters (conducted by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology on OPORA's request from 31 August to 9 September), most of the voters are unaware of changes in the election law and don't know how to vote using a new ballot paper.
OPORA helps you make a conscious choice easier: 28 seconds and you will understand how to vote using a new ballot paper in local elections (to all councils besides village and settlement councils);
- Full name of local political party cell goes first in uppercase;
- Then, read in brackets a name of number one candidate (first number in party's electoral list) to the corresponding local council, which will be elected for sure if a party overcomes 5% threshold;
- Finally, read name of a candidate in uppercase nominated in your election district.
When a voter puts a cross a tick, or any other mark in a small square of the ballot paper, he/she simultaneously votes for a party, its first enlisted candidates and a candidate in the corresponding election district.
We would like to remind that OPORA has prepared various unique instruments which will help you to follow the election campaign and make a conscious choice.
