2014 Parliamentary Elections : Results of Parallel Vote Tabulation

and Observation Summary from OPORA

On 27 October 2014, at 11:30am, the press-conference will be held by the Civil Network OPORA in the UNIAN Information Agency (4 Khreshatyk St., Kyiv, Ukraine).

On the next day after the voting day, OPORA will be the first organization, which will publicize the voting results in nationwide district based on the statistically-based quick count made by OPORA on Early Parliamentary Elections in Ukraine on the basis of official voting results at polling stations.

OPORA's experts will summarize the results of voting day, preliminary results of observation campaign conducted by OPORA with nearly 3,000 observers and monitoring participants attracted. The experts will report on the most widespread violations at polling stations on the election day, and the course of voting in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Besides that, experts will analyze activities of state bodies and institutions, responsible for the organization of elections during the voting process, tabulation and processing of votes.

Civic monitoring conducted by OPORA - is a type of network activity, aimed at impartial assessment of the preparation and conduct of elections, as well as preventing electoral violations through comprehensive civic action. Starting from September 2014, Civil Network OPORA conducts a large-scale observation of special parliamentary elections in Ukraine. The organization will attract 213 long-term observers in every region of Ukraine to monitor the campaign from its official start to announcement of the final election results. On the Election Day on October 26, more than 2,000 activists will join them to conduct statistically-based parallel vote tabulation.                                                                                                                                                                            
OPORA will systematically inform the public about the course of election campaign, and whether electoral subjects adhere to the electoral legislation, officials participate in the race, and all the interested parties follow international standards. Large-scale civic observation is aimed to prevent violations during the election campaign and abuses during the vote count process.
