Discussion titled: "Presidential election on occupied territories of the Crimea AR: constitutional rights of Ukrainian citizens should be protected", will take place in in the Ukrainian News Information Agency, 20 Esplanadna St. on 25 March 2014, at 11am.
The event is organized by Civil Network OPORA, together with experts of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), the Committee of Voters of Ukraine, Internews-Ukraine, and Promo-LEX Association (Republic of Moldova). Event participants: members of the CEC, MPs of Ukraine, electoral practices and legislation experts (including international), representatives of native Crimean Tatars, government officials.
Participants will present world practices of holding elections on occupied territories, discuss the necessary amendments to the legislation, and work out their proposition for deputy corps. Unfortunately, the conduction of due election process without additional safety measures for the voters and amendments to the legislation will be extremely complicated. Organizers are expecting to gain some virtual results of the discussion, with their further adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
