Civil Network OPORA has launched the "Protect your vote" hotline which can be reached at 0-800-505-180. All the voters will have a chance to report violations of election legislation. This information was aired on 19 October by Mykhailo Shelep, regional network coordinator in Volyn oblast.
The "Protect your vote" hotline has been launched on October 18. Now, any voter or participant of the election process on the territory of Ukraine may report violations of the election legislation at 0-800-505-180. All calls are free.
All violations reported by the voters will be verified by observers and included to an interactive Map of violations compiled by OPORA. It is another instrument available to active voters which want to report fraud.
Information about the hotline and the site will be spread by OPORA activists which will stick information posters in advertising spaces. OPORA volunteers wearing special T-shirts with a slogan "Protect your vote" will also disseminate leaflets among voters in all districts.
OPORA representatives prepared a reference book of violations during the elections specially for journalists and civic activists. All the information which will help journalists easily identify and correctly classify violations was given in small charts. You can download the reference book here.
Civil Network OPORA, which has a certain experience in the election observation, considers readiness of people to protect their choice, vote honestly and prevent manipulations to be the greatest achievement of democracy. On the opinion of OPORA, the civic control shall be maximally concentrated on possible voter bribery and falsifications. Therefore, OPORA appeals to the voters to be active, responsible, and to give possible assistance in securing the democratic elections in Ukraine.

The "Protect your vote" hotline is a part of the project "Developing training abilities in the election process matters and increasing awareness of voters", realized by OSCE Project Coordinator with the support of Canadian International Development Agency and Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Civic monitoring conducted by OPORA - is a type of network activity, aimed at impartial assessment of the preparation and conduct of elections, as well as preventing violations through comprehensive civic action. Professional monitoring at all stages of the election process indirectly influences the quality of the campaign. The public opinion, both foreign and domestic is formed through gathering and spreading of information among the target audience. From a strategic perspective public monitoring of elections focuses upon improving the system and certain procedures. In 2012, during Parliamentary elections in Ukraine OPORA implements a large-scale campaign of long- and short term observation, organizes a statistical vote-count by the results of voting with the proportional component of the electoral system on a basis of representative selection, will provide 100% coverage of polling stations by observers in separate single-mandate majoritarian districts. OPORA observers will work in all 225 electoral districts, and 3,500 activists will join them on the voting day. Organization will use the latest means of spreading information on observation results, including infographics and interactive maps.
