On 21 August, 2012, the Central Election Commission held the draw among 22 political parties, which registered their lists of candidates in nationwide election district. Therefore, one of two ballot papers, which voters will receive on the election day, was presented to the public on 28 October.

The meeting was recorded on video in order to notice everything happening in the conference hall around two barrels with envelopes. The draw was held two times. First, to determine the order of parties to draw lots in the main draw. Second was the main draw to identify the order of the parties in the ballot paper.

OPORA observers would like to emphasize the transparency of the process and members of the commission acting in conformity with the law and the CEC resolution of 23 March (#56), which determines the order of sortition. OPORA hopes, that drawing lots will be of the same quality and in coordination during formation of District election commissions.

We remind, that 2643 candidates were registered in lists of 22 parties, and the election list will include only 5 numbers from every political party. It's interesting, that the Fatherland All-Ukrainian Union and the Party of Regions are close to each other in the list, numbers 19 and 20.

The Civil Network “OPORA” - a non-governmental, non-political and financially independent all-Ukrainian network of activists. We united to enhance public participation in the political process by developing and implementing models of citizen participation in the activities of state and local governments.
