Black leaflets were distributed on last weekend in Berdychiv city. Hundreds of them were found by citizens in their mailboxes, and on fences of their homes. Leaflets notified, that the local entrepreneur, the deputy of oblast council, Oleksandr Reveha, is connected to the mass fish poisoning of people on the Church holiday in the village Zhurbyntsi. The leaflets had no source data and circulation information.

As you may know from the central mass media publications, the incident of mass poisoning was taken under control by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Sanitary-epidemiological investigation of Berdychiv Sanitary and Epidemiological Service (SES) has proved - the reason of poisoning had become the violation of the technology of cooking.

17 patients with a diagnosis of gastroenteritis were taken to the infectious section of Berdychiv central hospital. They soon were discharged to outpatient treatment.

The honorary head of the Healthy Nation Foundation ("Zdorova Natsiia"), Mykola Petrenko, which is also planning to stand as a candidate in Berdychiv single-member district, has visited patients in the hospital and talked to the doctors. He also visited Zhurbyntsi village followed by a group of local journalists, and talked to the villagers. OPORA coordinator was informed by the charitable fund in Zhytomyr oblast, Mykola Patrenko decided first of all to provide needed compensation to help cover treatment and to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Civic monitoring conducted by OPORA - is a type of network activity, aimed at impartial assessment of the preparation and conduct of elections, as well as preventing violations through comprehensive civic action. Professional monitoring at all stages of the election process indirectly influences the quality of the campaign. The public opinion, both foreign and domestic is formed through gathering and spreading of information among the target audience. From a strategic perspective public monitoring of elections focuses upon improving the system and certain procedures. In 2012, during Parliamentary elections in Ukraine OPORA implements a large-scale campaign of long- and short term observation, organizes a statistical vote-count by the results of voting with the proportional component of the electoral system on a basis of representative selection, will provide 100% coverage of polling stations by observers in separate single-mandate majoritarian districts. OPORA observers will work in all 225 electoral districts, and 3,500 activists will join them on the voting day. Organization will use the latest means of spreading information on observation results, including infographics and interactive maps.
