Totally 5935 graduates wished to pass the foreign language tests in English, French, German and Spanish. But only 5935 graduates came to the tests. So, the English tests attendance in Lviv region was much lower – today it was 89,03%,and on June 2 and 3 when there were Ukrainian language and literature tests – 92,16% and 92,83%.
In the school # 13 39 graduates ignored the tests, in school #9 – 34 graduates, in school #65 – 40 graduates. Such digits can be explained by the fact that the foreign language is not obligatory for the admission to most universities, unlike the Ukrainian language and literature.
Besides, many universities offer the graduates to file the certificate for optional subjects (mathematics or English – to the economical specializations, English and history – for law). So the participants chose few subjects to decide what to choose for tests.
The graduates claim that the tasks were not complicated. Comparing with last year, EIT-2011 was oriented on the average pupils of the specialized comprehensive school. The test papers consisted of two parts – “Reading” (6 tasks) and “Writing” (1 task). For “Writing” the graduates had to write a letter to their friend and invite him to travel through Ukraine.
One more positive fact is that OPORA observers didn’t notice any cases of dismissal of the graduates from the testing points because of absence of the certificate or passport. Perhaps, the participants of the previous testing made a good lesson out of their faults.
