Clarification on OPORA’s research study on social polarization, in so far as it relates to Ukrainians identifying themselves with majority/minority

Two-thirds of respondents expressed their intent to come back to Ukraine, of which only 35% are planning to return home immediately after the end of the war. The key factors that influence immigrants’ intentions to return to Ukraine are: emotional connection with the Motherland and security in the home region (43% each), reunification with family and employment opportunities in Ukraine (38% each).

56% of respondents used Facebook, it became the main source of news for 15%. The advantage of this social network is the automatic selection of information, the disadvantage is about the long time to publish a piece of news and how it is displayed on the feed. YouTube was viewed by 51% of respondents, as the main source of news it is used by 12%.

Social networks have been the main source of news over the past month for the vast majority of respondents — 95%. Twice as often respondents used news websites — 44%. Next follow friends and family — 37%, television — 33%, radio — 12%, and print media — 4%.
