April 30, Kherson. The round table "Features of admissions in 2010: advantages and disadvantages" was held within the project “Information campaign “Transparent university admission in 2010”.
OPORA activists have gathered the school teachers, parents, alumni and prospective employers under one roof to discuss the changed conditions of admission to universities in 2010.
Organizers of the meeting presented sociological data offered by the Fund "Democratic initiatives" and the Kiev International Institute:
"80% of society believes that external assessment is more fair and independent way of selecting school leavers for admission to the university than the entrance exams."
Information on international experience of knowledge assessment and test implementation in Ukraine made it possible to analyze the changes in the process of independent testing and admissions.
The most critical reaction was for innovations of government about taking into account the average score on the certificate and using of EIT certificates of previous years. This, according to Kherson dwellers, can lead to bribery and abuse, which in turn will decrease the credibility of educational reform in general.
Parent School Committees expressed the initiative to contact the Ministry and express their thoughts and suggestions on the mechanism of entering higher education.
